What Most People Don’t Know About Making CAJUN HONEY BUTTER SALMON
- Butter texture matters: Whip the butter until fluffy so it spreads easily and clings to the salmon.
- Season in layers: Add spices to the butter and on the fish for deeper flavor.
- Let it rest: Give the butter 30 seconds to melt before spreading so it sinks in instead of sliding off.
Ingredients
- 4 salmon fillets (skin on or off)
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1½ tablespoons Bald Buck Seasoning (plus ½ tablespoon for the butter)
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika (regular is fine)
- ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Fresh chopped parsley or cilantro (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Make the Cajun Honey Butter: In a small bowl, whip softened butter ~2 minutes until light and fluffy. Mix in honey, ½ Tbsp Bald Buck Seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, and red pepper flakes until smooth. Set aside.
- Prep the Salmon: Pat fillets dry. Rub both sides lightly with olive oil. Sprinkle evenly with the remaining 1½ Tbsp Bald Buck Seasoning.
- Cook the Salmon: Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium heat. Place salmon skin-side down (if using skin-on) and cook 6–8 minutes per side, until opaque and flaking easily with a fork.
- Butter and Serve: Turn off heat. Add a spoonful of Cajun honey butter to each fillet; let it melt 30 seconds, then spread. Flip and repeat on the other side. Garnish with parsley or cilantro and serve immediately.
